Technology is a vital component of The Worthy School of Austin, so we integrate the use of technology into our curriculum throughout our school day. We instruct the students in basic keyboarding, word processing, and presentation skills. Partnering with Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic allows us to access a large catalog of books and utilize programs which enable written text to be read aloud electronically. Our aim is to help each student maximize their potential in all areas of instruction without penalizing them for their dyslexia in subjects such as History, Science, and Literature, just to name a few.
In addition, we use textbooks and supplementary materials that are complimented by lessons that incorporate multi-sensory teaching strategies, including the use of mnemonic clues and meta-cognitive strategies. These lessons are professionally taught by trained instructors who are committed to making each student successful.
Courses that are offered: Science, History, Math, Language Arts, Grammar, Technology, and a rotational schedule of P.E., Music, and Art. Academic Language Therapy is offered as an additional elective with time provided during the school day while the other students are participating in learning enrichment.
